Birgit Neyer

Born in 1966 in Ibbenbüren in the district of Steinfurt, Birgit Neyer studied business administration at the University of Münster from 1987 to 1992. Until 1996, she held various positions, including management responsibility at Karstadt AG. After a two-year parental leave and years of self-employment, she worked from 2003 to 2014 as a consultant in the start-up sector at Wirtschaftsförderung Münster GmbH. At the same time, she studied mediation in business enterprises at the Ruhr University in Bochum while working, and added another part-time course in conflict management and system design at the Ruhr University in Bochum from 2012 to 2013. From 2014 to 2022, she served as managing director and office manager of Wirtschaftsförderung Kreis Steinfurt (WESt mbH) and in 2020 was elected as chairwoman of the Association of Business Development and Development Companies in NRW. Since October 1, 2022, she has been First State Councillor and Treasurer of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe, responsible for finance, human resources and IT. She is also responsible for the staff units Digitalization and Climate, Environment and Sustainability.
